Privacy Policy — Sioux Falls Park Map
Effective Date: July 27, 2026 Last Updated: July 27, 2026
1. Introduction
Sioux Falls Park Map ("the App," "we," "us") is an iOS application designed to help users view and explore park locations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This Privacy Policy explains what information is accessed or collected when you use the App, how it is used, and your rights under applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
The data controller for purposes of this policy is the developer of Sioux Falls Park Map, contactable at the email address listed in Section 14.
2. Information We Collect
Sioux Falls Park Map does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to our own servers. We do not operate a backend, maintain user accounts, or retain any user-generated content.
However, the App does access certain data on your device in order to function, and integrates third-party SDKs that independently collect data. These are described in detail below.
2.1 Location Data
The App uses Apple's Core Location framework to access your device's location on-device only, in order to:
Center and orient the map on your current position
Show your location relative to park boundaries and trails
Support the "recenter" map control
This location data is processed locally on your device to power the map display. We do not transmit, receive, or store your location on any server we control.
The App only accesses your location while it is open and in use. It does not access your location when the App is closed or running in the background.
You will be prompted by iOS to grant location permission ("While Using the App"), and you can change or revoke this permission at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Sioux Falls Park Map.
If you decline location access, the map will still function, but it will not be able to center on your current position.
Separately, Google AdMob may derive an approximate location from your IP address for advertising purposes — see Section 3B.
2.2 App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
On first launch, the App may present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, which asks for permission to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites (e.g., for ad measurement by AdMob).
If you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used by AdMob to deliver more relevant ads and measure ad performance.
If you decline tracking, the App continues to function normally, and AdMob will serve non-personalized ads instead, using only limited, non-cross-app data.
You can review or change this choice at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
2.3 What We Do NOT Collect
Sioux Falls Park Map itself does not collect:
Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
Account information or login credentials
User-generated content
Location data transmitted to or stored on our servers
3. Third-Party SDKs and Their Data Practices
The App integrates the following third-party services, which may independently collect device-level or usage data under their own privacy policies.
A. ArcGIS Maps SDK (Esri)
Used to display interactive maps and geographic park data. Map tile and geographic data used by the App are bundled with the App and stored locally on your device — the App does not download map tiles from Esri's servers during normal use.
However, the ArcGIS Maps SDK may still communicate with Esri's servers for purposes unrelated to map tile delivery, such as validating the app's API key/license and reporting basic SDK usage. This is standard behavior for the ArcGIS SDK and is separate from the park map content itself, which remains fully local.
Data ArcGIS may collect during this limited communication:
Device type and operating system
IP address (for service delivery)
API key / license validation data
Crash and diagnostic logs
Purpose: Validate app licensing, maintain SDK security and reliability, and support Esri's service infrastructure.
Privacy Policy: https://www.esri.com/en-us/privacy/overview
B. Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
Used to display in-app advertisements.
Data AdMob may collect:
Device identifiers (e.g., IDFA, subject to your ATT choice — see Section 2.2)
IP address
Approximate location (derived from IP address)
App and ad interaction data
Diagnostic data
Purpose: Deliver personalized or non-personalized ads, measure ad performance, and prevent fraud and abuse.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, our legal bases for the processing described above are:
Legitimate interest — for on-device location processing needed to provide core map functionality, and for crash/diagnostic logs used to maintain app reliability.
Consent — for advertising identifiers and cross-app tracking via AdMob, which is only activated if you affirmatively grant permission through the ATT prompt.
You may withdraw consent at any time through your device settings, as described in Sections 2.1 and 2.2.
5. How We Use Data
Sioux Falls Park Map does not use or process personal data on our own servers, since none is transmitted to us. Data accessed on-device (such as location) is used solely to render the map experience described in Section 2.1. Any data collected by third-party SDKs is used solely by those providers for their own stated purposes (ad delivery, map delivery, analytics, fraud prevention).
6. Data Sharing
We do not share any personal data with third parties, because we do not collect or hold any. Third-party SDKs (ArcGIS, AdMob) may process data according to their own policies, as described in Section 3.
7. Children's Privacy
Sioux Falls Park Map is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party SDK integrated in this App, please contact us using the information in Section 14 so we can address it.
8. GDPR (European Union) Rights
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
Access your data
Rectify inaccurate data
Request erasure
Restrict processing
Object to processing
Data portability
Because Sioux Falls Park Map does not collect or store personal data on our servers, these rights primarily apply to data processed by our third-party providers. To exercise these rights for data processed by Esri or Google, contact those providers directly using the links in Section 3, or contact us and we will do our best to assist in directing your request.
9. CCPA (California) Rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:
Know what personal information is collected
Request deletion of personal information
Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information
Non-discrimination for exercising these rights
Do We Sell or Share Your Information? Sioux Falls Park Map does not sell personal information. Depending on your Ad Personalization and ATT settings, AdMob's use of device identifiers for ad targeting may constitute "sharing" under CCPA's broad definition. You can opt out of this at any time via:
The ATT prompt (decline tracking), and/or
Google's Ad Personalization Controls: https://www.google.com/settings/ads
To exercise other CCPA rights related to third-party data, contact the relevant provider directly (Section 3), or contact us and we will assist where possible.
10. Data Retention
Sioux Falls Park Map retains no personal data, as none is transmitted to us. Third-party SDKs may retain data according to their own retention schedules — see their respective privacy policies in Section 3.
11. Security
We take reasonable measures to keep the App secure. Because Sioux Falls Park Map does not store personal data on any server we control, data security risk is largely limited to the practices of our third-party SDK providers (Esri and Google), which maintain their own independent security standards.
12. International Data Transfers
Sioux Falls Park Map does not itself transfer personal data internationally, as we do not collect or hold any. Third-party SDKs may transfer data internationally in accordance with their own policies and applicable compliance frameworks (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, our practices, or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised accordingly, and material changes will be noted within the App.
14. Contact Us
